Review by DollarBill

DollarBill Wow, what a great show! This one has some of that IT factor I've been looking for. Good sounding bootleg, just enough crowd noise, well balanced.

First set is outstanding! Great Curtain opener right into an early Cavern. Reba is tight, really good tonight. The only possible complaint is that it sounds like Fish cuts Trey off at the highest part of his solo. Just an opinion. Uncle Pen was great. Ice has really come along. Page really digs in. Almost sounds like a Mission Impossible tease. A rare Eliza is nice. Llama is absolutely ripping! Mound has also come a long way. Just a little loose in the middle section, otherwise great. ATR was pretty tight. A good Bouncing flows right into a creepy Bowie intro. Kind of a Spooky jam tease in the middle, or some other song, I can't tell. Trey rips the end of this one great. And a shushing of the crowd for a Memories closer. Again great first set!

Second set starts off with a solid Wilson. Fish does a little swing tease before the end. My Sweet One is tight. Stash is great. Magilla is another nice rare one to break up the set. Sounds like Trey is playing a little of his Oh Kee Pa part over top of it? Maze is great but, the only downfall for me is that Page is on piano tonight instead of the organ. YEM is good but a little loose at times. Not sure if I've heard it before but, Mike has an envelope filter now. Good, funny, vocal jam. Horse is good. Silent still is not all there. The timing is a little off. Chalkdust rips as usual except, Mike is kind of missing from the mix. Full on Cold as Ice into a pretty good Terrapin with intros from Fish, and an unexpected HYHU outro? Second show in a row with no Cold as Ice outro. Harry is a little loose too. I think they put so much energy in tonight that they were getting tired. Golgi is a great closer to a fine show.

"We only have time for one more." Trey says as they launch into a raunchy BBFCFM. Fishman says "Look at that beautiful chandelier." before the solo count off. Awesome!

Really, really good show tonight! Don't know if it's because they were close to home or what but, please listen to this show!

Review by Faht1

Faht1 3.7 rating?? You got to be kidding this was a spectacular show overall. I'm not sure if anything was below average. The David Bowie was top shelf material. The Maze was just sick. Let's not forget the how solid the YEM was. If you have time this show is definitely worth a couple hours of your time.

Review by GitDown

GitDown The jam in Bowie is particularly interesting this evening. They're not so much teases as "flavors" of jams, but first it sounds like a Mike's Song-type jam (a la the section that leads to Hydrogen), then maaaaybe a Reba-esque section, only because it sounds somewhat DEG-ish, which this show's Reba jam also flirted with (an excellent rendition, though I agree with Dollar Bill that it does sound like Fish may have cut it a bit short). But then there's a fairly distinct Possum-boogie flavor to the rest of the jam leading right up to the finish. Overall, a very interesting, uncommon flavor to this Bowie.

Review by Rumpofsteelskin

Rumpofsteelskin A beautiful theater. Taping was allowed from wherever your seat was still at this point. We recorded from the 7th row i think.

During encore, Trey climbed up onto a stack of speakers at stage left and screamed "Look at the Beautiful Chandelier" and jumped off the speakers onto the stage and took a ripping solo!

This is one of my all time favorite versions of MAZE ever. The jam keeps building higher and higher, faster and faster and Trey just keeps pumping it.

This show is a fine example of what a good solid PHISH show looks like.

Eliza...yummy instrumental.

Review by fluff

fluff Another classic gem, it was as if every show during this era was an easy masterpiece. The boys seemed effortless, but totally and electrically effective in their work.

We were up front center and the stage was only about three feet high. Perfect viewing, but the tight seats made for tough dancing.

The setlist alone gives hint to the energy. Great night in North Tonawanda!

petteri Wow, 24 years ago as I write this, my first Phish show. I can't remember the details any longer, just a few fleeting impressions. The utter joy of hearing my first Harry Hood, telling my friend I was dropping everything and becoming a Phish taper (that never happened!), and wonder WTH I just heard as an encore! Not sure where exactly this show lies in the annals of Phishdom, but it's worth a good listen. Still among my favorite eras of Phish, these early 90's shows.
