MYSTERY JAM MONDAY PART 164

Welcome to the 164th edition of Phish.net's Mystery Jam Monday Tuesday! This week's winner will once again receive an MP3 download courtesy of our friends at LivePhish.com / Nugs.Net. To win, be the first person to identify the song and date of the mystery jam clip. Each person gets one guess per day, with the second “day” starting after I post the hint. A hint will be posted on Tuesday Wednesday if necessary, with the answer to follow on Wednesday Thursday. Good luck!

Answer: @jmponder wins his third MJM by IDing the 7/5/98 Fee, a sloppy version in a sloppy show that nonetheless has a few unique jams worth listening to.

I agree. It sounds like Manteca, Party Time, and CTB, but the key tells me it's Steam or Twist or the Dick's Light from last year. But it's none of the above unless it's an epic Twist I've never heard. Rabeldy knew it right away... hmmm...

uctweezer (Of course the key could be meaningless if it's in some far-out Type II jam.)

GottaJibboo I have 100% heard this before (how many times have I said that about a MJM?) and think some of the guesses thus far are on the right track. I'm also fairly certain this is the very end of the song. Perhaps Reba starts after it?

Yup, I think I know which tour it came from... if so, win #6 is imminent for me...

Sorry, buddy. Beat ya to that guess.

HighClassWook It's totally a Steam, listen to the bassline.

I'll say the Steam from The Gorge, 7/26/13

Shit. I had the Europe part down and had just finished Europe '97. 7/5/98 I is the worst first set I've ever heard. Should have known.

WayIFeel At least I was searching the right year and month but only stateside. Briefly looked at set lists from Copenhagen but moved on. Nice win @jmponder

GottaJibboo Ahh, Reba was the song before, not after.

"and he jumped over the side of the ship and the sharks ate him, thank you."
, comment by Babyrattlesnakes
Babyrattlesnakes Damn, I thought it could've been a small show for a second, but didn't go with my gut. Nice call @jmponder. The Treyicorn triumphs!
, comment by mcgrupp81
mcgrupp81 Just checking in and see that it's gone. I thought Europe when I heard it. I think all the Europe/Japan shows have that unique small venue sound to them. This is a fun jam. The Rhapsody in Blue tease is what I remember. Great selection this week.

Jackaroe Amazing, I cannot believe that was FEE!
, comment by melt_the_tek9
melt_the_tek9 yep I knew I heard this before, but just now listening I didn't get to guess ;) It has small club sound all over it, and besides Trey's funny attempts at the lyrics, this Fee is not that good, its long, but Trey's melody/theme is a little ridiculous
