MYSTERY JAM MONDAY PART 168

As you all undoubtedly know, today marks a huge milestone in the Phish world. So, in celebration of the 1,274th day since MJM Part 01, here's the 168th edition of Phish.net's Mystery Jam Monday! Per usual, this week's winner will receive an MP3 download courtesy of our friends at LivePhish.com / Nugs.Net. To win, be the first person to identify the song and date of the mystery jam clip. Each person gets one guess per day, with the second “day” starting after I post the hint. A hint will be posted on Tuesday if necessary, with the answer to follow on Wednesday. Good luck!

Hint: In a way, the mystery jam is relevant to the actual Phish milestone celebrated yesterday.

Answer: First-time winner @tomwom51 wins his first MJM by IDing the 12/31/02 Walls of the Cave. Coming shortly: MJM #169.

mcgrupp81 Little bit of a Born To Be Wild feel turning into an upbeat Eleanor Rigby. Sounds like another pretty happy 3.0 jam.
, comment by andrewrose
andrewrose 3.0? I'm thinking more 98-00.

Mind you, I listened to the jam at a low volume on incredibly awful work computer speakers. Stealth listening can lead to distortion of the truth. I'll have to give it a listen at home. Start digging dude!
, comment by Bob_Loblaw
Bob_Loblaw Man this is a good one. I swear I've heard that little hammer on Treys doing fairly recently. It sounds like Mike's Groove, possibly going into Hydrogen?
, comment by Sivad
Sivad I feel like Andrews initial assumption may be correct as it was mine as well.
Then I began second guessing myself immediately

Babyrattlesnakes It does sound '98-'00 is, but it could easily be from the most recent tour. Lots of jams to choose from.

forbin1 At first I thought it was a dwd..then I figured a Piper..now I think it's a Ghost...
, comment by Brandonclick77
Brandonclick77 I'm feelin DWD 99-03... That doesn't really narrow it down!

GottaJibboo I don't have access to PhishTracks this week to confirm, so I'll take an educated guess.

11/28/09 Seven Below

I don't think its correct, but perhaps steers another to the answer.

, comment by andrewrose
andrewrose It's got that busted open spacey vibe, Trey all nimble.. akin to the 12/7/99 Bathtub Gin a bit maybe. I suppose it could be later but I find Trey's tone more late 1.0 sounding. I love this kind of stuff whatever it is...
, comment by THE_OGuyforget
THE_OGuyforget not sure deff. but summer 2000 for sure, or possibly big cypress has a very big outdoors sound and I would recognize 2000 if my life depended on it!

Similar around the 11min mark but I don't think it's the one. It feels like one of those jams where you feel bad for not knowing it off the top of your head.

My Seven Below guess above was to steer people to this show, the inaugural Seven Below, Waves, and WOTC.

Two can play at this hint game!

Also, I'm curious who thinks the first version of a song is the best version played to date? I do believe there are better WOTC out there, but this first one was pretty special.

markhood It sounds like a Waves to me.

mcgrupp81 Nice get. I did not even attempt to go to MSG for this one. That show and the Hampton run were tough tickets.

Nice! I couldn't pin the era on this one. I thought 3.0 as well at first, almost thinking this could be the segment before the alleged "Roadrunner" tease in the 9/4/11 Piper, but Trey's tone was off.

Ravinus Didn't know where else to put this, but I am surprised that there was no mention of the Monday Night Football shout out to Phish. The crowd yelling Wilson on National television along with the Wilson intro over the PA system. Then, Mike Tirico referencing the Gorge show this past summer where Trey encouraged the whole thing. I know I'm not the only phan that watches football...Anyway, very cool moment Monday night.

I missed this! Any YouTube or other videos you can share?

Ravinus It is on youtube. sorry i can't provide the link at this time. i am at work and practically everything is blocked. if you do a "phish wilson monday night football" search, you will find it.
, comment by Ravinus
Ravinus Or search "Mike Tirico Phish". I'm just taking stabs in the dark though.

phellow I remember that WOTC at MSG, as it was one of my personal Phish highlights. I started the clapping and it made it around the garden: http://www.phishtracks.com/shows/2002-12-31/walls-of-the-cave , 1:12. The next evening, I was with my family and put on the song and told them that I had started the clap. My parent's looked at me with a deer in the headlights glassy stare and I was so embarrassed. My younger brother got it, but still teases me to this day that I bragged to my parents. They must of been thinking, "wtf are you talking about?" Good times.

saw Tirico talking about it, but missed the chanting... i'm so glad it happened!! Trey must have been going nuts!! Fitting too, because of the timing of how close to the 30 th anniversary it was!! WHo would have thought 30 years ago that lyrics from a Phish song would be chanted at a NFL Monday Night Football game?!!?

Seattle Seahawks may now be my new favorite team!!

Gruden actually made mention of it on MNF... Pretty rad to hear the 12th man @ Seahawks Stadium getting into it!
