MYSTERY JAM MONDAY PART 191

Welcome to the 191th edition of Phish.Net's Mystery Jam Monday! Because last week's entry stumped the contestants, the winner will receive two MP3 downloads courtesy of our friends at LivePhish.com / Nugs.Net. To win, be the first person to identify the song and date of the mystery jam clip. Each person gets one guess per day, with the second “day” starting after I post the hint. A hint will be posted on Tuesday if necessary, with the answer to follow on Wednesday. May thee fare weller than last week!

Answer: First-time winner @stillwaitin wasted no time in quickly identifying the mystery jam. This week's clip was taken from the tail-end of the 10/6/00 Chalk Dust Torture, which features Trey's fellow Fare-Thee-Weller, Mr. Bob Weir.

MiguelSanchez I feel like this is familiar, but my brain isn't pulling it. Is this another one where I need to get "outside the box"?

Nice job on the quick win and post/handle irony

uctweezer Nice win! I hate not getting MJMs for shows I attended, but checking four hours after it's been posted with a second guitar in the clip ain't gonna cut it. Check out the encore with Bobby, but stay for the DWD -> Spock's Brain.

mcgrupp81 This was my first show. My college roommate, who got me into Phish, was reading about the Dead on the flight over to San Fran. Weir is quite the character. Couldn't keep up Trey on that Chalkdust. I knew I wasn't in Kansas anymore when I saw people a few yards away from me stroking the Shoreline lawn.

Dr_mikew Chalk dust was a little awkward; too much high-falutin' rocking for Bobby, perhaps :) . But the follow-on West LA Fadeaway is a nice, bluesy take, full of its vivid Skid Row imagery. After hearing this for the first time, I had my doubts about the wisdom of Trey and Bobby playing together. Boy was I proven wrong 15 years later.
