Top 10 Encores Played By Phish

10. “Sabotage” (8/8/98) – A moving tribute to the late hip-hop DJ Bud-E-Rich, and a reminder that Trey just doesn’t rap enough.

9. “Terrapin Station” (8/9/98) – In their early days at Goddard College, Phish made a band pact: if you’re an artist of renown and you die on August 9th, Phish will play your best turtle song three years later to the day. Rules are rules.

8. “Tuesday’s Gone” (7/13/99) – Like every Lynyrd Skynyrd song, this lyric is a searing indictment of Neil Young, whose long-running feud with Phish is well known.

7. “Tweezer Reprise” (every 3rd Phish show) – The Phish.net staff has been chasing this one forever.

6. “THANK YHOU” (9/6/15) – No, Phish. Thank YHOU.

5. “Harpua > Wildwood Weed Rap > Cowboy Sweetheart > Harpua > Stinkfist > Harpua > Theme from Lou Grant > Suspicious Minds > Truckin’ > Harpua > Dave’s Energy Guide Tease > Harpua, Suzy Greenberg” (12/6/96) – Nuff said.

4. “Here Comes the Sun” (1/1/00) – Phish was so lifted by the end of the Midnight set at Big Cypress that they played this note-perfect rendition of the Beatles classic as they walked off the stage. Using only their minds.

3. “Manure Spreader Set / 5th Set” (8/3/91) – After playing four scorching sets, Phish rode Amy’s Farm on the back of a candlelit fertilizer wagon and serenaded their fans in Gregorian chant.

2. “Grind” (8/8/09) – Page sang during this version that he’d been alive for 16,790 days. Savvy fans caught the error instantly – he’d been alive, of course, for 16,793 days. Nice try, Page!

1. “Friday” (2/16/03) – Sometimes Phish lays an egg in the second set and it’s up to the encore to save the show. The relief at the first notes of this Vegas encore was palpable.

timrpow Well, well done guys. Personally I'd have worked in 12.30.97 in somewhere, but I can't fault you for going with ANY Friday or Secret Smile encore in lieu of that.
