MYSTERY JAM MONDAY PART 275

Welcome to the 275th edition of Phish.Net's Mystery Jam Monday, the penultimate MJM in both chronology and difficulty for the month of May. The winner will receive an MP3 download code courtesy of our friends at LivePhish.com / Nugs.Net. To win, be the first person to identify the songs and dates of all three mystery clips – these clips are connected by a theme, but the theme needn't be part of the correct answer. Each person gets one guess – if no one guesses correctly, I will post a hint on Tuesday, after which each person gets one more guess before I reveal the correct answer on Wednesday around 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET. Good luck!

Answer: Congrats to @ChalkDustTeacher on winning his second consecutive and second overall MJM after his impressive run to the MMJM Tournament Championship round. This week, he correctly identified the 4/4/94 Reba, the 8/8/98 Sally, and the 9/9/99 Tweezer, all played on X/X/9X; X = {4, 8, 9}. Check back on Monday for the hardest MJM of the month, which will start on Memorial Day. Have a nice long weekend!

you got it.

ChalkDustTeacher I'm pleased that I got this one without hints! Last week was kind of a garbage win.

Side note: Shouldn't the "Theme from Batman" tease in Reba be notated in the tease charts? It is indicated in the jam chart, and that is how I found it.

PhreePhish Well done!

But look out MJM! I'm off the next two Mondays and Tuesdays! I'm gunning for you!

It's certainly close, but I'm not sure it's specific enough to qualify as a tease. @Dog_Faced_Boy has been saying that's the Batman Theme for years so he'll be pleased to know you caught it right away (he wrote the JC description).

mcgrupp81 If you haven't listened to the 4/4/94 show ever, do yourself a favor and go listen. The 1st set is very well played. The Divided Sky is quite decent. The Maze rages. The Reba, along with the "A Hunting We Will Go" tease is one of my favorites. The It's Ice is without exaggeration, one of the best versions they have ever played. It's got freakin' hose in it! The 2nd set with the horns is also well done. Horns don't steal the show here, they enhance it, which is how I at least like it. The If I Could from the show is a genuine feel good song. First time they played it and the buildup and jamming by Trey are on point. It was funny because I was so enamored with that jam, I went to the Phish.net reviews to see if anyone had mentioned it and one guy essentially said that it was his go-to-jam when it came to trying to turn people on to Phish for the first time. I think that says something. A solid Hood encore puts the cherry on top. Adding to all the musical quality is the sound quality of the recording. I don't know of others circulating out there, but the "Spreadsheet" version is the same one I originally had on disc and it's got this real warm feel to it. It's just a special show to start a year that could be argued to be the most important developmental year in Phish's career. Did I mention the show comes with unlimited free car washes and an air freshener!

And the debut of DWD! I had the same great recording many years ago too – one of the first shows I had SHNs for. Really fun hometown tour opener for sure.
