As someone who spent my early years as a Deadhead, I actually don't like it when Phil or Bob sit in. Well, at least Bob. I thought when he sat in for the 2000 show, it just resulted in a weak, but novel, encore. I'd rather the boys not be distracted by anyone else and just hit their stride like last year. I also disagree about 8/17/2012 being lackluster - I actually think that's an under-rated show that just got outshined by 8/19. PS, that build up to "the moment" on 8/19 truly was a "had to be there moment." It gives me chills listening to it now, but at the time it was as serious a "HOLY BALLZACKS" moment as I've ever experienced at a show (save for 10/9/89 Dark Star Hampton).
