The Mockingbird Foundation is a non-profit organization founded by Phish fans in 1996 to generate charitable proceeds from the Phish community.
And since we're entirely volunteer – with no office, salaries, or paid staff – administrative costs are less than 2% of revenues! So far, we've distributed over $2 million to support music education for children – hundreds of grants in all 50 states, with more on the way.
Looking back on it... I'm kinda surprised how many people think they've hit another gear they didnt have last year (or failed to hit the gear they hit last year) a Seems like on balance its a pretty logical extension of an oft-stellar 2012 and even 2011 to a large degree.
They really solidified the 4th quarters and don't do the triple-quadruple pre-encores as often. For all the grumbling about 1st sets, the MPP Stash, Bangor Antelope, SPAC Melt, Jones Beach Bowie trumped the 4 best 1st set jams from pre-Dicks 2012 (DCU Roses., Alpine Fee.. AC Walls? SPAC Melt? Cincy Wolfmans? Bonnaroo Tweezer? SPAC Stash? Portsmouth Gin?)
On the minus side, the "ripcord" returned, so did the whale call (which seemed to once again go through a period of being used more judiciously and overall better before starting to disappear again). . And Number Line continued to be a song that people should lump into the "why don't they jam this anymore?" Camp (as they've already blown it up more times than Roses. Instead it's in the "why do they play this?" Camp which is a shame. Awesome song. Firmly at the kind of 1990 Bouncing, 92 Sparkle, 93 Rift, 1994 Sample, 1995 Caspian, 1996 Zero 1997 My Soul, 98 Roggae 99 Farmhouse level of saturation that will undoubtedly leave some people hating it forever no matter what they do with it in the future.
Hey Phish, I'll pretty much do whatever you want if you can start slipping Roggae, Farmhouse and BOTT into every other show again!
