A fun and fiery Jim, Foam opener (no segue) both songs very well played. Awesome, here we are! Reba is plagued by some sound issues early but the playing is excellent. I've got to say it's very cool to hear them go from Foam into Reba, something they've only done a handful of times and they haven't done since 92. Again, no segue just two complicated composed songs played one after the other. Uncle Pen serves as a fun coda to the technical chops on display throughout Foam and Reba. A straightforward Chalkdust has us rocking again. Bouncing almost sounds enhanced by the murky acoustics, I was happy to hear it. The CDT, Bouncing, Ice, Sparkle run is fun solid Phish Playing Phish songs goodness. I really don't hear much of a > into Lizards, but a good Lizards is always welcome. A silly I Didn't Know with trombone antics lets us gather ourselves for really interesting Antelope. This is a solid set! Give it a listen!
Then head over to YouTube, which seems to be the only location for set 2? Really odd that this thing showed up on youtube 3 years ago and FLACs or MP3s never emerged. Its not the best recording as the taper explains in the comments but at least its something!
Mike's Groove is a wonderful way to kick off set 2, the Mike's Song in particular struck me as well done, powerful and heavy. Worth hearing despite the mics being way overpowered by the music. Glide, MF,MF and Coil are fine but this Tweezer... this Tweezer is really really something. Dark, gritty, knotty, screaming goodness. I really, really dig this Tweezer. Sure, there are innumerable good Tweezers in Phish History, but why skip one? Tweezer settles out into into Cold as Ice>Cracklin Rosie> Cold as Ice, and I f***in' love this band... play it now! The rest of the set is strong, the Harpua is definitely a fun listen with Fish on bagpipes and a Fire tease/quote. Cavern is a really fun way to close a show. The Tweeprise brings back the raucous spirit of the Tweezer.
This show is definitely worth hearing. The Antelope and the Tweezer both rise above being mere curiosities. Not a must hear show, but a good listen with no real lulls.
