brendanmcauley How could this not be a great show? A hot show just 2 days earlier and a day off then a road trip to humboldt from Berkeley? Experts only dudes...big fun show and I forget if it was a this oen or the next show in october where The Band played and opened. The early nineties are a blurr to me. Its funny from place like the living Room in Providence and Townshend park and Goddad to this remote town in Northern cal...we all knew we were onto something...I went out and partied hard at local bars like toby and Jacks and the Alibi..not even sure if they exist any more...this was a fun day. I have said this in several posts so maybe its not as true as I feel but even back in '91 Fluffhead was getting rare...cheers!

Review by TheEmu

TheEmu 3 stars, I think, but it does have a few moments thrown in. Trey was shred-a-licious in YEM. There were some teases and stuff that are not listed in the setlist file (correction has been submitted). There's a TMWSIY tease in Divided Sky, right at the start of the There's a Christmas Star section. It's short, but clear, and for a second I thought that would be cool, a Divided-> TMWSIY-> Divided...but alas, only a short tease. Then Possum got wacky. First, Fish, instead of starting right in with the snare beat during the intro, repeatedly broke into a BBFCFM-ish beat, before doing the normal Possum intro. Possum then contained Makisupa and Charlie Chan teases, as well as Oom Pa Pa and Random Note secret language. I think there might have been other teases in the Possum as well, but it wasn't anything I could put my finger on. Only bummer was Possum faded out before the jam was over. ;)

Review by thelot

thelot Set 1 has a decent audience source considering that there’s a few cassette generations in the lineage. Set 2 is of lesser quality, it degrades even more after the tape flip.

A pretty straightforward Jim kicks things off. Decent Reba. Trey absolutely slays Llama! Solid YEM with a fun VJ. “Stick it in your nose!” A standard Chalk Dust closes out set 1.

Set 2 starts off with a nice Sky with a very subtle TMWSIY tease from Trey. Lawn Boy shows up early in the second set. Inspired Fluffhead. Dog Log follows Fluff after a year hiatus. Tape flip after Dog Log. Buried Alive cuts in. Well played Antelope closer. When they come back out for the encore Trey says “Thank you ladies and gentlemen, we are David Bowie” Page introduces his original, Magilla. A fantastic Possum ends the night on a high note. Unfortunately, the recording fades out before the conclusion of Possum. ;)
